Grumpy Bar Stewards
By: Daryl | March 2nd, 2009
You’d think everyone in Newcastle would be pretty damn excited about us winning the Carling Cup. First trophy since 1969 and all that.
And they are, but with one notable exception.
It’s not the fans. They’re extremely happy:

And it’s not Wor Kev, who was remarkably graceful about me being twice the manager he ever was:

(just kidding King Kev)
It’s the board. The grumpy bar stewards:
Seems the “expected” to win the trophy, even though they won it precisely zero times before. And to make it worse they told me to keep the celebrations down. So I cancelled the 500 crates of Newky Brown, the stripper, and Gazza’s specially planned one-off comeback performance of Fog on the Tyne.
“Sittin’ in a sleazy snack-bar
Snuckin’ sickly sausage rolls”
Ah well, you can’t have everything.
Next up, three tough Premier League games vs top four opponents Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City. With two tricky Europa League legs against Olympiacos placed rather inconveniently inbetween.

I’m definitely feeling some sympathy for Martin O’Neill here. But will go all out to try and beat Olympiacos as well as take points off my three rivals.
Elsewhere on FM Offside:
- Mike is back to work at Man City
- Thommo’s preparing Celtic for their first assault on (or by?) the English Premier League
- Dhaw is planning some winter shopping with Roma
- Last but not, least Dave I is going 4-6-0 with Wuppertal
