I Rule the North East
By: Daryl | April 16th, 2009
Managing: Newcastle
Date: November 18th, 2011
Progress: Joint top of Premier League (OK, 2nd, but only on goal difference) after 11 games.
I might not rule the Premier League. Yet. But I do rule the North East.
While the Toon Army are busily qualifying for the knockout rounds of the Sunderland were relegated the season before last, promoted back to the Prem for this season and now sit rock bottom just waiting to go straight back down. Middlesbrough aren’t doing too much better either, as they’re currently 17th.
Happy days.
At times like these, the very least you can do is taunt the opposing managers. I don’t play Sunderland (still managed by Roy Keane believe it or not – who’s walking that dog?) until December 10th, but look forward to making his life miserable. Wish I could make Alf Inge Haaland my assistant manager just for that game.
I did just play Middlesbrough though. Here are three hilarious things about digital Middlesbrough.
1. Gareth Southgate is still in charge
2. A 35 year old Andriy Shevchenko is their star striker (two goals in 14 games)
3. Supported by Landon Donovan (one goal in five games, tired after his last match)
vs Middlesbrough (home)

Finally I had both Veloso (no longer suspended) and Camacho (no longer injured) to call on. Mohammed Shawky never stood a chance.
Middlesbrough did put up a decent fight for the first hour, but it was all black and white traffic. Finally Marquinhos bent one into the bottom right corner from 30 yards:
Can you believe Ryan Bertrand is claiming an assist for that? I still can’t believe he’s my first choice left back, so I guess anything’s possible. That said, Veloso played the last 20 at left back and looked very very good.
Diego came off the bench for a tap-in, and Federico Laurito stroked home a third (eight goals in seven starts, his stats are suddenly looking very good indeed).
Result: W 3-0

Knockout rounds of the Sunderland?
Don’t get any ideas about using Veloso as your main left back, he would be completely wasted there.

On an old save I got to 2022~. Miguel Veloso seemed to be the 1st choice left back for whatever team he was at, they were in the Champions League though, because thats how my attention was drawn to it.
So seems he can play there, well, he got 7’s against me there I remember.
