Newcastle United: Reloaded
By: Daryl | April 22nd, 2009
I’ve somehow gone six days since my last game with Newcastle. Which is a new record. But it’s a good opportunity to share something that I’m sure is common among all FM gamers: That unfamiliar feeling of walking back into the digital dressing room after an unexpected absence.
Doesn’t matter why you stopped playing. Maybe you were busy at work, maybe your social calendar suddenly overflowed. But at some point you get distracted from your FM duties. Then you remember and you load it up again. And everything feels weird.
Used to be that you knew who was injured, suspended, tired or grumpy without even looking. But on that first day back in the office, all that information is suddenly new again. This was particularly odd for me as I’ve been rotating my mids and strikers to keep everyone fresh and happy.
The players weren’t happy.
Apparently one human year is like seven years for a dog. So assuming you could easily play ten seasons of FM in a year, I’d say one human year is like a decade to the little pixelated players in FM. So six days to me is.. erm, I don’t know, a long time to them.
Andrei Arshavin looked especially freaked out. He came up to me in the dressing room before the game against Charlton and said “You know boss, sometimes when you’re not hear, it’s like I don’t really exist.” Sent shivers up my spine. I gave him a DVD of the Matrix that I hope he won’t get around to watching.

Arshavin will probably just use the Matrix for fashion tips.
So, now you’re back playing…any updates coming soon?

I hate it when that happens, because I find it much more difficult to get into the game. As I usually have my favourites etc. I forget who my favourite players were and things dont usually work out for me, I haven’t played my Barcelona save for a long time, and it will take a lot for me to get back into that one.
